Operating Principles

A rush of water under very high pressure piped through a calibrated orifice, usually a highly resistant crystal, generates a unified jet of water at a velocity two times the speed of sound. This jet of water mixed with an abrasive substance is directed against the surface of the piece, obtaining the separation of the parts.

The high pressure water jet cutting technique is with no doubt the most new and promising technique appearing on the market in the last few years.

Extreme flexibility

There are many advantages if you use this technology: the production time is immediate, independent from the nature of the materials. This is because the passage from design to cutting is direct and it allows handling other small units.

Cutting easily complex templates with high quality results

The water jet cutting permits high quality cutting and quick and precise manufacturing of all types of materials, also complex templates, because as a "cutting tool" a thread-like high pressure jet of water is used ( 4.000 bar). This cuts the piece with the combination of erosion and abrasion working at high speed. The pieces obtained have a good finish and are free from residue.

No thermic or mechanical deformation of the pieces

This type of process could be conveniently used while processing materials that subjected to thermic or mechanical stress could undermine the physical and chemical characteristics.

The width of the cut edge is very limited
It lessens the waste of material while cutting and facilitates the nesting procedure.
